CARING FOR YOUR CLOTHES
Whether bespoke or off-the-peg, all quality clothing deserves some long-term love. Our basic aftercare advice will help prolong the life of your clothes and keep them looking their best.
By following a few simple steps, you can maintain the appearance and shape of your garments for years to come.
STORAGE
Be sure to allow enough space in your wardrobe for your clothes; overcrowding can cause them to become crushed and creased.
Use high-quality wooden hangers - those with rounded ends and a subtle forward curve are ideal for preserving the shape of men's jackets and women's dresses.
For trousers, choose a hanger with a textured crossbar to prevent slipping and ensure they hang properly. For women's skirts, hangers with clips are ideal.
ROTATION
One of the best ways to extend the life of your garments is to avoid wearing them too frequently. Ideally, allow your clothes time to rest and air in-between wears. Regular rotation with other items will help maintain their durability and longevity.
BRUSHING
We recommend brushing your heavier-weight garments after each wear. This helps redistribute natural oils in the fibres, creating a protective layer that repels dust and stains.
Regular brushing also removes any dirt, dust, or food particles that may have clung to the fabric.
Wherever possible, use a high-quality brush with natural bristles, as they are much gentler on garments than synthetic bristles, causing less wear and tear.
DRY CLEANING
Limit dry cleaning wherever possible. Frequent cleaning can strip protective oils from natural fabrics, shortening their lifespan.
If more regular cleaning is needed, request that an experienced dry cleaner sponge and press your garments by hand. This method is gentler and helps maintain the garment's shape without flattening it.
